Which questions to ask?
Preparing a list of questions for your physician will help you making the most of your doctor’s appointment.
Here are some basic questions to ask your physician after you have told him your symptoms:
- 1 What causes my symptoms?
- 2 How can I be sure that it is not a tumor?
- 3 Do I need further tests and if yes, which ones?
- 4 Do I need to see another specialist?
- 5 What are the treatment options?
- 6 How do I use the recommended medication?
- 7 Are there any side effects?
- 8 Can I expect to be free of symptoms after treatment; what is the annual risk of relapse?
- 9Where can I read more about my disease?
In addition, you can support your physician by describing your nutrition and bowel habits. It may be a good idea to write down the answers to the following questions:
- 1 What are your symptoms?
- 2 For how long have you had them?
- 3 What are your bowel and hygiene habits?
- 4 Do you spend a lot of time sitting down?
- 5 Have you already tried medication?
- 6 If yes, what did you take? (Write it down, and/or take your medications along.)
- 7 Do you suffer from any known drug allergies? To which drugs/medications?
